happy things

our weekend was lovely.
just a few things that have been going on in our lives:

+ danny and i attended a jazz game! (this was a first for me)  jazz won by ten and right at the end the entire arena was filled with multi-colored confetti.  it was almost my favorite part of the entire game :)

+ i had a freezer meal swap with my good friends kim and jessica.  (this is our third exchange, and it just keeps getting better and better!  watch for a post to come soon with some delish freezer recipes!)

+ we celebrated aaron and missy's graduation...and danny's dad's birthday!

+ we got excited to watch this show
(we still haven't watched the most recent episode...so don't spill any details!
anyone else in love with this show??)

+ went to gap and scored some amazing deals for the entire fam!
(we got everything seen below for $40!!!)

for him:

for her:

for the little him:

 for the little her:

my personal favorite finds:

+ oh, and i got my diploma from BYU!!!!!!!!
what a wonderful package to receive in the mail!

what have you been up to??

splish splash

bath time is getting a little more exciting over at our house...
our baby girl has turned into a energetic, sitting up all on her own!!, crazy little girl.
and max...is still max! running non-stop, making ave laugh, and being a two year old :)

we love these two little ones.

oh, and happy december!  it has certainly snuck up on us!  we got the tree up the other day, but ran out of lights half-way up the tree...and we still haven't gotten any more!

also, i've been a little consumed with my beautiful sister's wedding {in less than a month!!}  i just got her invite's finished though and they look beautiful! (if i do say so myself!)

and yesterday this email showed up in my inbox from byu:

HALLELUJAH!!!

hope you have a wonderful first day of december!

i'm a BYU college grad!!**

did you ever think the day would come?!?!?

i sure didn't.

but miraculously, it came + went...and i couldn't have been more pleased.

initially, i really really didn't want to walk. my specific college is one of the biggest at BYU and when we went to danny's ceremony it was almost three hours long!! trying to juggle a wiggly baby + listen to the sappy talks was about all i could handle! but when it came time for my graduation, i decided i wanted to put my sweet husband through the same suffering.

except this time, it wasn't. my ceremony was about 1.25 hours from start to finish. it was amazing! the talks were even somewhat interesting :)
and our two little kiddos did exceptionally well.
{the picture below may lead you to believe that max sat that still the whole time...he didn't! but what can you expect from an almost two year old?? he did really well considering.}

after pictures, we headed to my parent's for a little post-graduation party. danny's mom brought down an ice cream cake from cold stone!! it was heavenly. and it may have even made graduating from college worth it :) my dad + danny's dad were both out of town but my brother and his family were able to come celebrate, as well as my cousin + her family, and my aunt. thanks to all who came to support!! it has been an incredibly long journey...one i didn't think i would finish at times. THANK YOU to everyone who babysat max, who helped me with my homework, who encouraged me to finish. i couldn't have done it without you.

oh, and for your viewing pleasure...below is a breakdown of my college experience.

boo for byu

i'm having a rough day.

mainly because:
1. the sun isn't shining.
2. this cold that i've been fighting is still hanging on.

and

3. the biggest kicker--i'm not graduating from byu in april anymore.

booooooooooooo.

according to an email that i just received from my counselor, i am 9.5 credits short of the required amount.
what i want to know is, why in the world did NO ONE ever mention this to me?!?

yeah. i'm a teeny tiny bit frustrated. i've been tracking my graduation on mymap and there it tells me that every requirement is complete. however, after talking with my counselor, she informed me that i should have been referring to my progress report. go figure. so i checked out my progress report and at the bottom, in little itty-bitty writing it says, "total credits deficient: 9.5"

looks like i'll be coming back to campus after all.
we still haven't quite figured out when i'll be able to come up for classes. i am having another baby in april, you know?
so life is going to be fun :)

april 2011

april is going to be a BIG month for us:

danny and i will both celebrate our birthday's
our brand new baby girl will join our family of three
...
and i am GRADUATING from BYU!!!
{i'm a little excited at the moment!}

i finally got everything taken care of and, as of today, my paperwork is complete for graduation of april 2011.

i couldn't be happier.

now, all i have to do is take a final and finish one more independent study class...i can do it, right??

outside the box

for my history of creativity class i had to submit a project that tied history + creativity {go figure!} i didn't think it was going to be too big of a deal {i'm creative, right??} but the project was worth a whopping 200 points, so i was a little nervous.

i could NOT, for the life of me, think of something to do! sure, i'm creative, but tying it into humanities is not my forte. anyways, last minute {as in, three days before it was due!} i began working on "my little box of creativity."

i decided to get a bunch of crayola products: play-doh, new twistables slick stix {which, by the way, are AMAZING!}, and cute little pip-squeak markers to spark creativity in the little ones. then, i made historical finger puppets. wow, did i underestimate how long that would take! i probably added a few too many embellishments, but i think hope they will be something that my kids will play with...and learn while they are at it!

i'm pretty pleased with how everything turned out. so, i thought i would share the love.

{sorry the lighting is such horrible quality...i really need some photography lessons!}

{from left to right: louis xiv, martin luther, leonardo da vinci, queen elizabeth of england, william shakespeare}

i also made these little fact cards to go along with them:

what do you think?? did you learn something new? :)

done.

done and done.

i am no longer an on-campus student!
{with one and a half independent study courses to go, i will be a full-fledged college grad.}

i never thought the day would come.
and i am MORE than relieved.

trying to juggle being a good wifey, mother, daughter, friend, student, etc...has been a little bit challenging for me. ok, it's been very challenging, but the end is so near and i couldn't be happier.

thanks to my husband, parents {both sets!}, siblings, friends, and everyone else who made this dream become a reality. though i am not doing anything out in the workplace with my degree {home and family living} it is going to come in handy probably more than once a week at home.

yay for {almost} being done!!

blur

wow. the past few weeks have been a blurrrrrrrrr.

seriously, life has been so crazy. with danny commuting to nephi on a daily basis, and me taking classes every day {have i mentioned that i've been taking classes--with NO break--since fall 2008????} i have had absolutely no time to give this blog a little tlc.

but i've resolved to do better. partly because i count this as my journal, and partly because i'm sure you are all dying to know what has been going on under our roof. huh?? :)

anyways. yesterday i had an assignment due for my home & family living class. we had to create a family mission statement. and since i'm so pleased with how it turned out...i thought i'd let you all take a look-see. {almost all credit goes to the amazing alma loveland} however, i did put a lot of my own thought into it as well.

enjoy!
and get excited for many more catch-up posts to come.

an official coug

it's official. daniel scott is now a graduate of byu. wait, let me back up a bit. he was a graduate in december but as of a few weeks ago he is an official i-sat-through-three-hours-of-commencement-graduate. apparently his specific college is one of the largest that byu has. so...it was a looooooong ceremony. but it was worth it {i think he would agree with me}. i know i'm glad he walked, because now i don't have too!

it really was nice though. danny's parents + my parents were able to come support danny and max did great {even if we did have to feed him two jars of baby food during the ceremony!}

danny was the third to the last to walk, and we all decided it would be best to take off before closing remarks. by the three hour mark we had all had enough. we took some pictures in his graduation gown and then went up to salt lake with danny's family to celebrate at tepanyaki. oh.my.goodness. i love that place. the food was delicious and our chef was hilarious.

here are some pics from the big day:

we couldn't have done it without them:

or them:

our soon to be college grad:
{he was excited to see dad finish up too!}

and me. the even sooner to be college grad! six classes to go, to be exact!

yay for school! thanks again to all of you who have helped us through. college can be tough, but so SO worth it. {can you tell i'm trying to convince myself?!} hah. but really though, thanks again! we love you. {you know who you are.}
